OTTAWA – On December 3, 2015, Members of the Ottawa Real Estate Board elected a new Board of Directors. The Ottawa Real Estate Board is the city’s largest trade association of over 3,000 sales representatives and brokers in the Ottawa area.
New President, Shane Silva, has been a Member of the Ottawa Real Estate Board for 10 years, and has served on numerous committee’s and task forces for the last five years. Shane was first elected to the OREB Board of Directors in late 2013.
“I’m honoured to be leading a great group of Directors for the upcoming year,” says new President, Shane Silva. “The Mission Statement for the Board is to help our Member REALTORS® succeed.”
Shane has served on a variety of Committees and Task Forces for the Real Estate Board. He has chaired the Professional Standards Committee as well as served as a prosecutor for discipline hearings. Raising the level of industry Professionalism is high on his priority list.
Shane is a resident of Blackburn Hamlet with his wife Lesley and 2 daughters Kaitlynn & Deana. He and his family have lived in the Hamlet since 1994. “It’s a great community” says Shane, “It’s the place I choose to live and raise my family and retire someday.”
In 2010 Shane opened HomeLife Capital Realty on Innes Rd in Blackburn Hamlet. They currently employ 15 Real Estate Agents and Brokers as well as 2 support staff. He also owns the HomeLife Realty office in Rockland and has plans to open another HomeLife Office in the west end of Ottawa in 2016.
HomeLife Realty has over 180 Offices across Canada and it is a Canadian Company. Shane is the Franchise owner in Ottawa and oversees the hiring and training of Agents and Brokers. The HomeLife Office in Ottawa is home to “Higher Standards Agents”. Our Agents outperform the average agent according to stats from the National Association of Realtors.
Shane also volunteers his time to local Charities and Organizations. He is a member of the Good Shepherd Knights of Columbus. Some of the events he participates in are the Annual Christmas Auction held at the Good Shepherd Church. He is also one of the coordinators for the Knights of Columbus Christmas Hamper program where they deliver food hampers to families who are less fortunate in our community.
